Dzamara Brother Protests in Front of Mugabe, Brutally Assaulted

Now Daily

The brother of Itai Dzamara, Patson Dzamara remained in hospital Tuesday after being attacked by the police for staging a one-man demonstration in front of Zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe.

Mugabe was waiting to present a speech to thousands of people gathered for the country’s 36th anniversary of independence from Britain at the national sports stadium Monday when Patson Dzamara bravely walked out onto an area guarded by soldiers close to the president. Dzamara held up a hand-written placard demanding the release of his brother. A Central Intelligence Organization operative was seen shoving Dzamara away before handing him over to police officers who severely assaulted him, leaving him unconscious.
