Former vice president Joice Mujuru’s backer, Brigadier General Agrippa Mutambara had his farm invaded on the orders of Zanu PF commissar Saviour ‘Tyson’ Kasukuwere and the party’s provincial chairman Dickson Mafios, her People First movement said in a statement.
Mutambara’s Bindura farm was besieged by an estimated 70 Zanu PF militants armed with home-made weapons who spent four hours making violent threats against the retired general and his family for defecting from president Robert Mugabe’s party.
Mutambara, the country’s former ambassador to Mozambique is one of a handful of powerful generals who have publicly renounced Zanu PF and joined Mujuru’s party.
Kasukuwere, who hails from the same Mashonaland Central province as Mutambara is said to have been stung by the general’s defection, which attracted other military personnel of lower rank.
