Heavily armed anti-riot police raided former prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s Movement for Democratic Change offices in Harare Monday and arrested 15 workers and officials, including party deputy chairman Morgen Komichi.
Komichi, a senator, was later released but others remained in custody Tuesday.
The cops searched the six floors at Harvest House before shutting down the complex.
Party spokesman Obert Gutu said the riot cops were looking for activists who allegedly assaulted a Zanu PF supporter who passed by the office wearing a T-shirt bearing dictator Robert Mugabe’s picture at the weekend.
