There has been an outbreak of the Newcastle chicken disease in Zimbabwe, an industry official has confirmed.
“Newcastle disease has been reported in the peri-urban areas of Greendale, Borrowdale, Tynwald and Waterfalls and the source of the disease is thought to have originated from Mbare,” said Zimbabwe Poultry Association chairman Solomon Zawe. “All poultry breeders are urged to improve their bio-security to avert the continual spread of the disease.”
Newcastle is a devastating poultry disease that spreads fast and can kill large flocks of birds in a short period of time.
