Khupe-Makone-Mwonzora Champaigne Party Riles MDC-T Members

Movement for Democratic Change deputy president Thokozani Khupe and the party’s secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora have sparked outrage after they were pictured sipping champagne on a luxury boat on Lake Chivero.
The discredited pair were joined on the luxury cruise by the party’s treasurer-general Theresa Makone, a member of the Khupe faction, which is heavily opposed to party president Morgan Tsvangirai.
MDC-T members posted abusive comments against the trio after the pictures leaked on Whatsapp.
“These people are telling us that the party cannot even pay its workers or engage in any programmes because there is no money, yet they are having champagne parties on Lake Chivero. This is outrageous,” said a senior official of the sinking party, which has been on a downward spiral since its heavy defeat by Zanu PF in the 2013 elections.
The MDC-T is totally broke after its traditional Western donors abandoned it accusing Tsvangirai of being unfit to be president even if he won elections. Tsvangirai only has a basic education, has repeatedly rejected advice until it’s useless and has proven to be a corrupt, violent womanizer. Calls from within for Tsvangirai to step down have been met with violent retribution by the party leader’s secret armies against the likes of former secretary-general Tendai Biti and deputy treasurer-general Elton Mangoma.
Tsvangirai has now surrounded himself with ‘homeboys’ and ‘girlfriends’ who are accused of guzzling party resources without contributing anything to the struggle for democracy in Zimbabwe. Party members have stopped paying subscriptions in protest after money posted to Makone’s account disappeared. Makone was accused of using the money to buy votes during the party’s 2014 congress, allowing Khupe faction members to sweep all the powerful posts.
