Zimbabwean vendors on Monday dragged defence minister Sidney Sekeramayi to the High Court after soldiers openly threatened to remove them violently from the streets.
The court heard an urgent application by the Zimbabwe Informal Sector`s Organization (ZISO) against three respondents:
Minister of Local Government , Public Works and Urban Development, Ignatius Chombo, Minister of Defence Sekeramayi and
Mayor of Harare Bernard Manyenyeni.
The court ordered (by consent) that the three respondents be interdicted from evicting the applicant`s legal members from their designated vending sites without due process and that Sekeramayi must ensure that the Defense Forces of Zimbabwe and the Joint Operations Command (JOC) refrain from participating in the civic duties of Chombo and Manyenyeni.
