Former Zanu PF national commissar Webster Shamu has been suspended for three years, setting the stage for a major confrontation between the hyperactive Grace Mugabe’s Mazowe Crush faction and war veterans.
Other senior party members suspended at a politburo session attended by Grace Mugabe Thursday include former vice president Joice Mujuru’s personal assistant and Mhondoro MP Sylvester Nguni, former Bulawayo chairman and ex-Zapu stalwart Callistus Ndlovu, Shamu’s wife Constance Shamu, Andrew Langa and his wife Clara, Kindness Paradza and Talent Muduuri.
Some 37 Zanu PF members were suspended for two years.
Others suspended from Mashonaland West include Joshua Chakona, Adrian Musiwa, Steven Karenga, Jackson Chizanga, Dominic Muza and Mernard Waneke.
In Matabeleland South, Jabulani Phetshu Sibanda, Jeremiah Langa, Moffat Sithole, Ollen Ncube, Morris Muhambi, Lungisani Nleya, Malachi Nkomo, Alice Dube, Greater Ncube, Vongai Mpofu, Alma Mkwebu, Ndabayabo Ndhlovu, Tafirenyika Seremani and Moses Langa, have been suspended.
Those suspended from Bulawayo are Christopher Dube, Elifasi Mashabe, Charles Chiponda, Nicholas Mhlanga, Canaan Ncube, Bertha Moyo, Methuselah Ndhlovu, Quite Moyo, Bheki Dube, Calvin Musuta and Noma Mokoena.
