Movement for Democratic Change leader Morgan Tsvangirai has laid the blame for the alleged abduction and murder of human rights activist and journalist Itai Dzamara on president Robert Mugabe.
“We hold the Mugabe regime responsible for this morbid and senseless act,” Tsvangirai told reporters in Harare Tuesday.
He said although there was no information about the whereabouts of Dzamara, he “feared the worst”, hinting that the National Youth Action Alliance (NYAA) spokesman might be dead.
Tsvangirai said similar kidnappings by suspected state agents had resulted in the deaths of activists like Tonderai Ndira.
The former prime minister expressed shock at the development and implored Mugabe to set up an official inquiry.
