Secretary-general of the Movement for Democratic Change formation led by Welshman Ncube, Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga has resigned her post, a party official said.
Party vice president Edwin Mshoriwa said Misihairabwi-Mushonga had resigned the secretary’s post on February 12 but remained a party member.
“The presidency has accepted her resignation and hopes that Hon Misihairabwi-Mushonga will continue in her other roles in which she was deployed by the party, such as her role in Parliament,” Mshoriwa said.
The former minister resigned amid reports that she had clashed with Ncube over the opposition party’s plans to merge with MDC Renewal led by Tendai Biti. Sources claimed Misihairabwi-Mushonga was backing Biti for the post of united party president.
