Zimbabwean legislator Temba Mliswa has been charged with stealing eight firearms from a white farmer during the height of farm invasions in 2002.
Mliswa’s lawyer, Msindo Hungwe questioned why Myles Walter Hall, from whom Mliswa seized weapons, including seven AK 47s, during a raid on a farm, did not report the matter at the time.
The axed former Zanu PF Mashonaland West chairman appeared before Chinhoyi magistrate Ignatius Chigova and was remanded.
Observers say Mliswa is being punished by dictator Robert Mugabe’s regime because he is related to Didymus Mutasa, godfather of the so-called Gamatox faction of Zanu PF led by former vice president Joice Mujuru.
