Disgraced phony prophet and Robert Mugabe acolyte Uebert Angel has denied cheating a follower out of a $300 000 Bentley by falsely promising him ‘heavenly blessings’ which never came.
Responding to a High Court application by Ndabazinengi Shava for the return of the posh Bentley Continental, Angel claimed that the businessman never owned the vehicle. Angel claimed, through his lawyers Manase and Manase, that the disputed vehicle belonged to his brother, Benjamin Mudzanire who reportedly bought it from one Anderson Tagara.
According to an earlier application by Shava, the Spirit Embassy leader lied to him that if he surrendered the Bentley, he would reap three-fold within eight months ($900 000). This never happened.
Through his lawyers, Chinyama and Partners, Shava said it was a term of the agreement that the vehicle would remain his until the promised blessings materialized.
“Contrary to the defendant’s promise, a period in excess of one year has since lapsed with the seed not having germinated and the plaintiff has realised that the representations made to him by the defendant were fraudulent misrepresentations aimed at defrauding the plaintiff of his motor vehicle,” Shava’s application read.
“At the time of making these misrepresentations to the plaintiff, the defendant was in his sober senses and not under any spirit at all and he knew that what he was promising the plaintiff was not the truth and will never come to pass.”
Spirit Embassy faces collapse after it was deserted by key members, including gospel diva Olinda, who accused Angel of making numerous false prophecies, many of them aimed at pleasing dictator Mugabe and his wife Grace Mugabe.
The sect receives funding from the Central Intelligence Organisation, according to sources.
