Creditors have seized property from transport minister Obert Mpofu’s collapsed Allied Bank.
The deputy sheriff moved in on Friday to enforce a High Court judgement in favour of Killer Zivhu’s Zaha, which is owed $1.5 million.
Allied, the flagship of Mpofu’s massive business empire, closed its doors on Thursday and is set to be liquidated. The Reserve Bank said Allied was undercapitalized and no longer in a “safe and sound condition”.
Mpofu was accused by fellow Zanu PF officials of stealing diamonds worth billions while he was mines minister. His fortunes changed when president Robert Mugabe sacked him following the publication of a parliamentary report which implicated him in various corruption scandals. The author of the report, Edward Chindori-Chininga was murdered soon after it was published.
