President Robert Mugabe is too old to be president and his young wife Grace too abusive to lead, adding to misery for long-suffering Zimbabweans, Movement for Democratic Change president Morgan Tsvangirai has said.
“Zimbabweans are suffering,” Tsvangirai said Wednesday. “Added to that is a senile President with a vituperative wife and a party that has prioritized in-fighting at the expense of the problems facing the ordinary citizens of this country.”
Tsvangirai scoffed at the recent cabinet changes, which Mugabe admitted had been recommended by Grace Mugabe, who blew the whistle, alongside Oppah Muchinguri, on alleged coup plotters in cabinet, including vice president Joice Mujuru and de facto state security minister Didymus Mutasa, who has now fled.
“Last week’s so-called cabinet reshuffle failed to inspire any confidence in the nation as it was simply a shuffling of the chairs in the Titanic. The new brooms are the same old characters who have failed over the years,” Tsvangirai said, adding that the MDC could do a better job in government and was ready to lead.
