The Movement for Democratic Change has stepped into the chaos created by Zanu PF factional fighting and says it is ready to form a new government if the ‘rigging party’ collapses.
“The MDC-T is poised to form the next government in Zimbabwe,” said Obert Gutu, the MDC-T spokesman. “The stolen harmonised elections of July 31, 2013 have come back to haunt the electoral thieves as their miserably factionalised political party collapses like a deck of cards.”
In the Midlands South province, MDC-T cadres were found actively mobilising disaffected Zanu PF members, especially youths.
MDC-T Midlands South chairperson and senator Lilian Timveos said on Facebook that the party was flooded with requests for membership cards and T-shirts from Zanu PF defectors. Senator Timveos urged fellow MDC-T leaders to be proactive and accept the new members into their ranks.
