Joice Mujuru has formally accepted her nomination as Zanu PF
vice president, thumbing her nose at dictator Robert Mugabe and his militant wife Grace, who want her removed.
Party sources confirmed that the combative former guerilla fighter submitted her papers to the secretariat department this week.
“The move has flat-footed the Mugabe faction. They tried every trick in the book to have Mujuru barred from congress but have totally failed,” analyst Chris Mitchell told Now Daily.
He added: “While Mugabe is using violence and threats, Mujuru has proved she will not be intimidated.”
Mugabe and Grace have accused Mujuru of plotting a military coup, corruption and ineptitude, charges which have boomeranged.
