‘Baba Jukwa’ Suspect Charged

Newspaper editor Edmund Kudzayi faces the death penalty in Zimbabwe after authorities charged him with terrorism Saturday.
A prosecutor told journalists that the Sunday Mail editor encouraged insurrection against the government of dictator Robert Mugabe and bullets were found in his drawer.
Kudzayi, the state claimed, also created the ‘Baba Jukwa’ whistle-blower account and used it to recruit soldiers into the so-called Zimbabwe Revolutionary Army and the Gunda-Nleya Brigade rebel armies to topple the Mugabe government.
Kudzayi was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody until Monday for a bail hearing.
Sources claimed the real ‘Baba Jukwa’ was still at large pointing at recent posts which denounced Kudzayi and Herald and Chronicle editors Caesar Zvayi and Mduduzi Mathuthu.
The state has previously claimed it had located ‘Baba Jukwa’, the mystery blogger who has published damaging information about corruption and political murders in Zanu PF.
