World Cup: U.S. Takes Revenge On Ghana

A 29th-second goal by Clint Dempsey – the quickest of the 2014 World Cup – put the United States on their way to a thumping 2-1 victory over the much-fancied Black Stars of Ghana Monday.
Ghana has sent the Americans packing in two previous World Cups but their loss may mean elimination.
The U.S. will now play Germany and Portugal but must finish second to advance to the knockout stage.
In other matches, Germany beat Portugal 4-0 while Iran and Nigeria’s Super Eagles played a goal-less draw.
Brazil plays Mexico Tuesday.
