Sex Scandal Hits Mugabe Cousin Chiyangwa on Election Eve

President Robert Mugabe’s cousin Phillip Chiyangwa’s bid to regain the Zanu PF Mashonaland West provincial chairmanship on Saturday looked increasingly doubtful this week after a sex scandal broke, it emerged.
The MP for Chinhoyi was slapped with a divorce suit on Monday by wife of 25 years Elizabeth, who said he had “improperly associated himself with several other women sexually”.
Elizabeth Chiyangwa (nee Juma) accused her flamboyant husband, in divorce papers, of neglecting and abusing her, saying he had “successfully alienated his love for the plaintiff to several other women”. She said she had lost trust, faith and love for Chiyangwa, the father of their two daughters Ellen Vanessa and Michelle Martha, and only stayed with him because of the violent abuse he subjected her to.
Elizabeth demanded 85 percent of the cash value of some 100 properties she claimed Chiyangwa owned, to be paid to her within 90 days of a divorce order being granted by the High Court. She also demanded $83 000 monthly maintenance for 10 years.
Chiyangwa’s troubles were seized on by political rival and incumbent Mashonaland West party chairman, John Mafa’s campaign.
Questions are also being asked about the source of the listed wealth, whose total value was not disclosed.
Chiyangwa has previously claimed he was worth $250 million.
