Mugabe Protester Collapses During Siege of U.S. Embassy in Harare

A pro-Robert Mugabe militant who collapsed outside the U.S. embassy during a protest over Western sanctions has issued a defiant statement from hospital calling for continuation of the demonstration.
Julie Chiondegwa, secretary of an outfit for children of war veterans, was rushed to hospital Saturday after engaging in a hunger strike.
The U.S. government did not comment in detail over the strike or say what they would do about the group camped at their embassy compound in Harare. Ambassador David Bruce Wharton wrote Friday on Facebook: “Had a demonstration in front of the embassy today. I strongly support the right of peaceful protest and hope that all institutions and organisations will join in protecting that right.”
