MDC-T Senator Threatened

Midlands senator Lilian Timveos defied death threats at the weekend to address mine workers threatened with eviction at Shabanie Mine in Zvishavane.
Timveos said she was attending a workshop in Vumba on Friday when someone phoned her with the threat from a hidden number.
“The person said: ‘Lilian Timveos, who do you think you are? We are going to meet at Kandodo.'”
Kandodo township in the mining town was the venue of her victory celebrations, attended by hundreds of supporters on Saturday. Timveos challenged the person who had called her to carry out the threat but nothing happened.
Timveos has previously had her home raided and searched by police and state agents.
She threw her weight behind mineworkers who have now been ordered to leave company houses after the mine closed down.
The senator said it was unfair to tell the workers to go when they had not been paid for up to five years.
