Police Arrest MDC-T Official Over Bombing Of Zanu PF Offices

Police have arrested Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) youth assembly executive James Chidhakwa over the recent petrol-bombing of Zanu PF offices in Harare, a lawyers’ group confirmed.
Chidhakwa was picked up Friday morning at his offices in Harare for “allegedly master-minding the bombing of the Zanu PF sub-offices” in Highfield, according to Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) spokesman Kumbirai Mafunda.
“Police have claimed to have access to mobile phone records implicating Chidhakwa and other MDC-T youths,” Mafunda said.
He said Chidhakwa’s lawyer, Denford Halimani, a member of the ZLHR, was denied access to his client on Friday.
The Zanu PF offices were ripped by a bomb recently. Without a shred of evidence, Zanu PF spokesman Rugare Gumbo immediately blamed “the enemies of our election victory”, a reference to the MDC-T, which alleged vote-rigging by Robert Mugabe’s party.
