U.S. Sliding on Dangerous Path: Boehner

By Peter Bolder|
Washington – Republican Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, John Boehner, toned down some of the divisive rhetoric of the past, hinting at more serious negotiations Wednesday, analysts said.
But that did not stop the combative Boehner from slamming president Barack Obama and the Senate Democrats for slowing progress on a host of bilateral issues.
“Our nation is on a dangerous path,” Boehner said. “President Obama and Senate Democrats need to drop the my-way-or-the-highway approach and come to the table.”
Boehner’s “softer” stance immediately earned him the wrath of hardliners in his own party, who say there should be no negotiations until the so-called ‘Obamacare’ legislation is removed.
